Suburban Roosters
Some of our neighbors very occasionally raise chickens, including (to judge by the sound of it) roosters. Roosters are quite territorial, it seems, and use their calls to establish their dominance over the others. (“I’m the king of the world!”)
When more than one neighbor has a rooster at the same time, the roosters crow at each other to establish dominance, but since they aren’t in the same yard there is no way for them to resolve which one is king. So they spend the entire day crowing at each other, until they are literally croaking with what remains of their voices.
The relationship between the above roosters and some people’s behavior on the Internet is left as an exercise for the reader…
